Back to school will be here soon! My website is new for the 2016-2017 school year. You will find updated blog posts and resources for home learning support posted here throughout the school year. For now, you can find an “about the teacher” biography, our school supply list, the summer reading project, and book recommendations. Our class website is still a work in progress so some content will not be available yet. This website is also maintained as an ongoing part of my graduate school work, so some content is password protected, as it is for professors or administrators.

If you have any suggestions of parent resources you would find helpful and like to see added, please let me know! I look forward to a great year working with your child and your family!

 

Welcome

Everyone has a story. We have the story of how we got to where we are now. Some of us knew we wanted to be teachers from a very young age. Or if you’re like me, it took you a little longer to realize you had a place in the classroom. There is a story to your journey as a teacher. The roads you’ve traveled throughout your career; your ups and downs. But we also have the story we are living right now. The story of us and the 20 or so little (or sometimes not so little) humans with whom we share 7 hours a day for 180 days. We are privileged enough to see our classroom’s story and the story of our students unfold every day, but what goes on in those 1,260 hours? Who tells that story?

When I first began using social media, I didn’t set out with a story in mind. My story unfolded and developed on it’s own this year. It’s a story of a family, a strong, bonded, classroom community with opportunities for all learners. Using this blog I can tell the journey of my class and my journey as a teacher. You’ll see our successes, things I’ve tried, memorable moments, and little people doing great things; their big personalities and their even bigger dreams.

In my journey, I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be. Media provides us the opportunity to share the story of our classroom and the power to change our relationship with our students, our parents, our coworkers, and our administration. I am privileged to tell our story for 180 days and now have more than 140 characters to do so.
